I have picked up some pretty good deals on Ebay and almost all of them were in great shape. :)
+1. Also, Amazon's usually pretty good, I get used CDs and DVDs there all the time and they're always great. :)

Windows is a typical masturbation operating system that constantly tries to satisfy itself (herself/himself?).
Windows 7 has many background processes that do things, consume CPU cycles and therefore nibble battery capacity.
OS X like most UN*X operating systems is behaving more orderly here.I would avoid looking at Activity Monitor for the rest of your life.

Try resetting the PRAM
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys.
On a side note. You should never install a developer preview as your primary OS.

Did you already have an iPhone that you then used the packaging from for this refurb?
Yes I'm putting it into one of the "official" boxes instead of the dreary brown ones they give you. Figure I might as well dress it up :)
For all purposes it appears to be brand new, but I put refurb just to be honest.
Currently at $275 on ebay. Get your bids in early!

Got my Gmail account and set it up for POP access in Mail.
All worked fine until I restarted my powerbook. Opened Mail and the Gmail account had disappeared!
The local folder I created to store Gmail messages is still there (in On My Mac), but the subfolder of the Inbox has disappeared, along with the messages that were in it.
I already have 3 subfolders of the Inbox, my Yahoo POP, .Mac and my ISP's.
Is there a limit to Mail's capacity to handle more than 3 mailboxes? Or is it a bug?
Thanks

Just a quick question... I downloaded the SMP Intel version for my MacBook Pro, but I can't figure out how to pause it! Last night I did a ctrl-c (quit) and it closed out... but this morning it started all over! What on earth is the "pause" command?
(yes I know I don't need to stop it for most things, but I like to at night and while I study because of the extra noise it creates.)

So does anyone else think apples next bluetooth keyboard should have backlit keys? and possibly black coloured keys, like macbook pro's etc, instead of white.
Is this possible?
What are your opinions - lets discuss.

Ever since I was 7 years old, my family had PC's, so that's what I grew up with. (I know, it's so sad...) Then, about two years ago I was looking to buy a computer of my own, to use for school projects and stuff. A friend of our family who works in the IT dept of one of the colleges in our town volunteered to keep his eyes open for a good used computer--the college often sells its old machines. One night he called me up and asked, "How would you feel about getting a Mac instead of a pc?" He went on to tell me all about this amazing deal he had found on a 300 MHZ B&W G3 that the art department was selling. I was skeptical, but he assured me that it would do everything I needed--write papers, run photoshop E & Dreamweaver, e-mail, etc. After I got off the phone, I went to a couple of switch websites and read up on Macs. The next morning I called him up and said, "It's a deal!"
That afternoon he delivered my new machine to my doorstep. It came with the original keyboard and hockey-puck mouse, 17" monitor, and OS 9.2 and all of this for a mere $150. I've been in love ever since. ;) My dad is still a staunch PC advocate and we have a continual family dispute. Last fall when our Pentium II bit the dust I tried so hard to convince him to get a G4, but he wouldn't hear of it...bought a dell instead...
Anyhoo, I'm hooked and hopefully I'll NEVER own a PC again. I'm buying an iBook next month. When I'm forced to use Windows and program in VB at school, I practically go insane...
Macs rule!

This is my first post so hello all.
I went over to techTV.com today and found a realy good video clip showing you the future of PC in five years time, and thay had some great hardware on show too.
But the best thing in the video was this great looking OS that was runing on there computers. Man I thought OSX was a good looking OS, but this look's so good. This is a must see.

And if I ever become a rich man I would love to have one of these monitors to work on PLEASE PLEASE.

Why does it matter if I am a new member? Does it mean I can't voice my opinion? Don't treat me like I'm some little kid.
Honestly, $560 is a high final price when you see the completed auctions for a new unlocked one that are mostly around $500. But congrats on your winning auction from the hacked account.
Great. I'm glad thats your opinion. I don't care. If I can get ahold of the winning bidder (not the phisher) and he wants it, I will send him exactly what he paid, at a price he chose, not me. I started it at $200, which is a very reasonable price. He chose how much to pay; and its not my fault that you're jealous/envious/whatever you are(?) about how much it ended for.

Not if you knew what you were talking about, you couldn't. KingHuds does know what he is talking about. Read and be wise.
OK, someone recognized the abbreviations and proved that the graph is accurate (provided the context I noted was absent). One could also come up with another arbitrary explanation for the graph involving a parabolic piece-wise function given the fact that you can't infer specific curvature characteristics from a hand-drawn graph. It doesn't magically invalidate my point. The point was to show that there could be a logical explanation for the graph and the submission was stupid. That point was made.
For instance, lacking a scale, let's suppose that graph passes through (0,0), (1,1) and (2,0). This results in an equation of y = -x^2 +2x. However, we notice that to the right of 1, we should have a decreasing dependent variable. However, they share a common point, 1. When x = 1, n = 1 (using the alphabetic rather than the Greek for simplicity's sake). Also, when x = 2, n should be 0, to flip about the point of 1. When x = 0, n should be 2 (again, flipping about 1). This results in n = -x + 2. Solve for x and substitute into above parabolic equation, and you have a graph that both roughly matches what is shown and satisfies those inequalities for n. Seeing the spacing and using n = 1 as an indication of scale, I think these are reasonable assumptions. If you feel different, pick whatever point you desire and solve again.
Arguing that the graph cannot be parabolic based on it being hand-drawn is a moot point. Thanks to KingHuds for the explanation.

I don't have a machine with IE6 on so can't see the issue directly. However running your page through the W3C validator shows no errors in the html so it's unlikely to be that. When you say "just highlights the input box as if it is active", what do you mean? This, unless I've misunderstood what you have written, is the default for any browser.
Can you enter text in to the input box? Any other symptoms?

Thank you, again. Your generosity is making my life much easier. I am making progress in my trying to plow through the online stuff, as well as two texts on R that I have bought. I wish they had taught R rather than SAS when I was in school. SAS is so hard to afford, that once people graduate they find themselves having learned something they can't use.
On to the next problem.

He must have meant labels. Studios don't make hardly squat, and are not commissioned on sales.
I was interning at a studio in Franklin, TN (basically Nashville) when I came in early in the morning and woke up the main studio engineer (he had slept there overnight after a long session). When he got on his feet he said, "Why am I doing this?" I made my mind up right then that I didn't want to be in the same boat and decided not to work in the industry after getting my B.S.

Leaked... With intro and everything! Pretty amazing how leaked videos are so polished. ;)
Anyways, good to see consoles finally getting head tracking, but I'm curious about how far they've gone, if it actually supports 6 DOF, or if it's just x and y, which given the console's hardware might be the case.
And that part showing the father and son air-wheeling it on the couch was lame.
