The blurb for the iTouch iOS4 upgrade blurb (http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/ios4-software-update.html) indicates that bluetooth functionality has been extended to include keyboards. Unfortunately, I have tested this on a 2gen itouch using two non apple keyboards that worked with an ipad, but they did not "discover" although there was indication that a dialog had transpired.
Very disappointing... anyone know anything more about what the ios4 brings to the BT table and if the 2gen is even included?
fwiw, I _was_ able to pair BT stereo headsets to the 2gen under os3 but it appears that the upgrade to 4 may have disabled even that option.

Hello I just picked up a Mac Mini server 2.53 Ghz.
To good a deal, server with 2 years applecare left, wireless keyboard and magic mouse, all for $400
I already have an iMac, 2 windows PC's, apple TV iOS
Should I just install Normal snow leopard on it? are they any real advantages of the server OS? any draw backs?
So far it it feels different, Could I put windows on one drive an SL on the Other. Windows and snow leopard server.
This was a buy and ask questions later purchase and any help or Ideas would be great.

Might want to try G.E.M.M. The biggest selection "on the Planet." Haven't purchased cds from them but have purchased numerous vinyl and the grading condition is spot on.

Are third party drives compatible with Macbook Pro? I'm talking about one you could actually put in the notebook and use on the go. I'd like it to be fully functional for both storage and BD playback.
Put in the notebook? Don't think there are any options for that...think you'd be stuck with an external at this point. I'm not overly familiar with the current available products, but I recall seeing mention of them online recently, I think on TUAW. A search of the forums and/or Google should get you going. But it's probably not going to be your ideal of an integrated solution or a super portable option, unfortunately.

This may sound totally obvious, but spend time on YouTube. There are a lot of folks people your age doing cool stuff and putting it on YouTube (Lucas Cruikshank aka "Fred" being one obvious, and rather obnoxious, example). Not all of it is good, and some of it is frankly terrible, but you quickly get a sense of what's cool and what's not (for example, YouTube seems to have popularized the disjointed jump cut.) You can take inspiration from the stuff that's done well, and learn from the bad stuff too by taking note of what they did wrong and how you would have done it differently.

You should learn how to use PHP to feed information from a language file instead, like the method I used on Too Cool For IE (http://www.w3junkies.com/toocool/)

I've not read any of those books but based on the description and table of contents, I'd say this one would be a good start:
Objective C for Absolute Beginners
It seems to cover the basics of programming in Objective-C without jumping straight into programming user interfaces. Apart from that, it seems very similar to this one:
Apress: Mac Programming for Absolute Beginners
Xcode should be all you'll need for now. If you get serious about getting your apps on the mac or iPhone app store you'll need to pay apple to join one of the developer programs. You can't test an iPhone app on a real iPhone without joining, though you can test on a simulator on your Mac.
Starting programming for the Mac then moving to iOS would be good, but if your ultimate goal is to be an iPhone developer you could skip it. It's up to you really. Just get started and have fun!

As of right now, I only have all the seasons of That 70's Show, taking a pic of a small collection isn't really pretty :(

Thanks, I got Seasons 5 and 6 of the Office on blu in one of those cubs somewhere. The packaging of season 6 sucks, so I removed the discs and put them in separate cd holders. I had to do the same thing for Back to the Future.

Dell is putting a little pressure on Gateway with this. A detente with Apple is just a temporary measure.

Me too. I really hope Apple kicks iWork up a notch and makes it commercial grade in terms of speed and lack of bugs, and adds in the missing features.
iWork has the potential to be brilliant. I'd love to dump MS Office once and for all. I'm there with Keynote, and with a very, very solid upgrade with Pages, I'll be able to dump Word.

I'm interested in finding out how early some people will be going to wait outside the Apple store. I've never waited for a release on anything before, so this is all very new to me... haha.

So what constitutes defective. Is there are criteria for measuring this that is disclosed or it it up to the repair tech?
The way I view this is that it essentially means 99.99% of the time the battery is not covered.
